Practice Together XR is a native Vision Pro platform for remote nursing students to role-play clinical scenarios, enhancing collaboration and communication in immersive, multi-user simulations.
Challenge
The challenge we were given was to design an native Apple Vision Pro application that helps remote students feel more integrated into the university community and connected to their peers, faculty, and learning environment.
Our team focused on the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program. The program is mostly asynchronous, with recorded lectures and independent assignments. Students meet in person only during six on-campus intensives spread across 2–3 years. While effective in many ways, this model limits real-time collaboration and the sense of being part of a cohort.
What are the current issues with MSN online program?
Current XR medical simulation apps are mostly solo experiences, with limited interaction and collaboration.
Online MSN students primarily learn with recorded lectures, which resulted in disconnection from fellow cohorts.
The lack of real-time engagement and class bonding among students may pose a career readiness gap when transitioning from school to clinical setting.
However, in real-world nursing, collaboration is not optional — it’s critical, especially in emergency response and daily care delivery. Students need to build trust, develop effective peer-to-peer communication, and practice decision-making under pressure.
Proposed Solution
We envision our platform to provide meaningful learning opportunities beyond on-campus intensives — enabling online students to engage in peer-to-peer collaboration, communication training, and critical scenario practice from anywhere.
